Cadence Knows the Importance of Your Daily Routines, and Has Made It Easier Than Ever To Take Them With You on the Go

by

No matter what day of the week it is or how many zillions of things I’ve got going on, my morning routine is always the same: Wake up, work out, walk the dog, take a shower, slather on skin-care products, and pop my anxiety meds. When I’m at home, this process is seamless—it’s so second nature that I don’t even really have to think about it as I move through the motions. But when I’m traveling, it all sort of falls apart—I’ve forgotten my medicine, or I don’t have the specific sunscreen that I absolutely need to protect my skin, or I can’t find my contact lenses—and then I’m forced to start my morning feeling just a little bit less like myself.

It may sound silly to think that such little steps can make such a massive difference in my day, but it’s true. Having specific steps to rely on first thing help to ground me, and set me up for success later on—and it’s worth noting that psychologists agree with this sentiment. “Making choices and reinventing the wheel each day takes focus and energy,” says Paulette Sherman, PhD, a psychologist and the author of The Book of Sacred Baths .”There is a power in habits because they are the automatic building blocks of our choices which add up into routines.”

In other words: Our daily routines matter, which is the main reason why Well+Good’s new beauty Podcast—Routine Rundown—is dedicated to chatting through the regimens of some of the industry’s heavy hitters. It was also the main source of inspiration for our latest guest, Cadence founder Stephanie Hon.

The company’s mission is fairly simple: To give people the tools they need to keep up with their routines on the go. To do this, Hon has created magnetic, leak-proof containers that can hold all of your favorite routine staples—namely pills and beauty products—so that you don’t have to think twice about having what you need on hand whenever, wherever.

“We invest so much time, money, and energy into our routines at home, and these routines make us feel like ourselves,” says Hon. “And so the problem Cadence is solving is helping you take these routines on-the-go in a painless, sustainable, thoughtful, and very elevated way so that you never have to sacrifice the products that make you feel like you.”

Unlike the fill ‘er up drugstore bottles of yore, what sets Cadence’s capsules apart is the fact that they’re 1) incredibly chic and 2) highly customizable. You can choose from different sizes and colors, then add whatever label you’d like so that you never have to wonder what’s inside. Plus, they’re sustainable. For starters, instead of having to invest in the travel-sized versions of products you love (before tossing them in the trash at the end of your trip), you can take what you’ve already got in your cabinet and pop it into a TSA-friendly container. Plus, the capsules themselves are made from “scrap” materials that would typically otherwise be wasted.

After three full years of pandemic life, many of us have returned to the go-go-go pace of “real” life in full force—which means transitioning from the work day into date night in the office bathroom, weekends away, and generally just being out and about a whole lot more. The whole point of Cadance, says Hon, is to maintain the routines that mean the most to us through it all.
